Meet Coach Anisa
Welcome. I’m Anisa Jordan, the founder of Melanin & Microbiome®, a gut-centered wellness platform created to help Black women understand the gut as a central command hub for whole-body wellness.
Through science-informed education, culturally grounded wellness, and practical habit support, I help Black women reconnect with the daily rhythms that shape gut health, including nourishment, stress, sleep, movement, emotional wellbeing, and nervous system care.
This work is rooted in the belief that Black women deserve wellness spaces that honor our biology, our culture, our lived experiences, and our right to feel well in our bodies.

My Journey: From Law to Wellness
For years, I thrived in the fast-paced world of law, serving as an attorney and ethics educator. But despite my professional success, I began to notice the toll that chronic stress, long hours, and an unbalanced lifestyle were taking on my health. When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I knew something had to change.
Alongside medical care and a deeper commitment to my own wellbeing, I began paying closer attention to nourishment, movement, stress, sleep, blood sugar, digestion, and the ways my body had been communicating with me.
As I researched deeper, I saw how Black women, in particular, face unique health challenges due to systemic stress, diet culture, and a lack of access to culturally relevant wellness education. This realization sparked a new passion in me: to bridge the gap between science and culture, offering practical, evidence-based wellness strategies designed specifically for Black women.
This journey led me to become a certified holistic health coach, specializing in gut health, the microbiome, and the connection between digestion, mental well-being, and chronic disease.
Today, my mission is clear: to help Black women understand the gut-body connection and build supportive rhythms that nourish the whole woman from the inside out.
How Melanin & Microbiome® Supports This Work
Melanin & Microbiome supports Black women through gut health education, culturally grounded wellness resources, workshops, seasonal wellness experiences, and future coaching offerings.
This work connects daily habits to the four pillars of gut-centered wellness: immunity, hormonal rhythm, mood and brain health, and inflammation and longevity.
The best way to stay connected is through The Melanin & Microbiome Digest™, where I share gut-centered wellness reflections, blood sugar-supportive habits, culturally grounded health education, and first access to future offerings.
If you’re ready to reset your gut, boost your energy, and take control of your wellness journey, I’m here to help. Let’s start building your foundation for lifelong health—together.
